![]() But these days some honest/authentic/quality ones are becoming available and this one is a dazzler, perfect for a slow-sippin' winter beer, zero out of place to note for me. O- I'm not historically much of a fan of black beers, I think the generic swill that was CO2-pumped pub Guinness in the 80's/90's scarred me for life. It's pungency and ABV% need it though for balance. T- Boom, and it grows on the palate! Coffee, roasty-toasty, that grows with increasing pungency, caramel, then in comes a clear to spot 10% ABV BOOF!, with a sense that this almost could have had a couple of shots of strong liquor added to it!į- It's quite rich, though not in any way sweet. ![]() Pours with ultra-fine 5mm mid-tan head (ps. L- Black, clear, with the faintest glimmer of ruby-red when held up close to a halogen lamp.
